Create a LAMP stack on Ubuntu in seconds

Tasksel is a tool found in Ubuntu and other Debian operating systems. It provides a wizard like interface which can be used to install multiple packages required for several predefined server ‘tasks’.

‘tasksel’ is often installed by default on Ubuntu but if it isn’t you can install it using

sudo apt-get install tasksel

Run tasksel as sudo

sudo tasksel

and you will be presented with the software selection interface. From here you can choose ‘LAMP Server’ and ‘OK’. You will be guided through the installation of Apache, MySQL and PHP this will include prompts for MySQL root passwords etc.

More information on using tasksel on Ubuntu installations can be found on the Ubuntu help site.
